Do you help patrons work on their genealogy, discover the history of their house, or find primary sources for their research papers? If so, come network with your fellow history librarians at the History Section’s Open House. During the first half-hour, we'll provide an update of the section’s activities. From 9:00 to 10:00, our committees will meet. If you are interested in joining our section, feel free to join a committee meeting to learn about their current activities.

Finding Dead People: Genealogy and Local History Resources for the ILL Practitioner Program Las Vegas Convention Center
Description :

This program will provide a brief overview of core tools of genealogical research including census records, county histories, family books, and local newspapers. Participants will then learn how to locate these materials in online repositories such as FamilySearch and American Memory and in major genealogical centers. The program will also introduce services offered by local historical and genealogical societies, and participants will learn to look beyond libraries as potential suppliers.
