Amelia Bloomer Project and Rainbow Project Author Panel Author Event Caesars Palace
Neopolitan IV
Description :

The Amelia Bloomer Project (FTF/SRRT) and the Rainbow Project (SRRT/GLBTRT) are collaborating for the first on an exciting author panel. Two authors with works on the Amelia Bloomer Project list will speak: William Klaber, author of The Rebellion of Miss Lucy Ann Lobdell, and Rita Williams-Garcia, author of P.S. Be Eleven and One Crazy Summer, from the 2014 and 2011 lists respectively. The powerful way these authors treat social injustices stemming from racial and gender discrimination and gender non-conformity in their writing suggest they will be compelling speakers.

Tim Federle is the author of Better Late than Never, a Stonewall Honor book, and it's sequel Five, Six, Seven Nate! Sara Farizan is the author of If You Could Be Mine, which recently won a Lambda Literary Award, as well as the upcoming Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel. Both authors were on the 2014 Rainbow List.

S233
Description :

Maker spaces and 3D printers are hip and libraries are using them to ensure that they remain relevant and are perceived as keeping up with the latest trends. One of the trends that hasn’t gotten much attention, however, is the fact that books are still our brand and reading is the main reason citizens view the library as valuable and continue to support it. Does the key to public library success lie in adopting new technologies or in revitalizing the one that has been at the heart of our services for more than 100 years? Join library marketing expert Tina Thomas of Edmonton PL and Duncan Smith of Novelist and find out at this program which argues that the key to our future is contained in our past.
